Here we are in beautiful Niigata.
The kids’ first experience in the snow…and it is just sensational.
The weather is very cold…..however with thermals and good ski wear it is fine. For about $15, you can buy a snowball maker, perfect snowballs every time! Not so good when all the kids gang up on you….
Sunny weather, light snow all day and night and just beautiful scenery.
Day 2 in the snow
Powder and more powder…..to the point where we couldn’t even make a snowman….
A beautiful gondola ride to another mountain, pure, white, soft snow which was so fun to play in, and yummy food as well.
We saw snow monkeys on the way up too.
Tubing and tobagonning in the afternoon and an igloo experience at night that had been built for the long weekend in Japan.
Another fabulous day
Day 3 of snow fun
Another gorgeous day in the snow. Perfect weather, sunny, no wind, almost ‘warm’ ….in thermals and ski wear ( during e day, it did get cold late afternoon when the snow started falling again….)
The kids did a ski lesson in the Panda Room, an indoor ski room. They then progressed to outside for some practice in the real snow. The kids ring bells and bang colourful balls as they ski, with enthusiastic, kind and patient instructors. A wonderful experience for them ( and for parents to watch ) .
Our afternoon was spent at Wakuwaku-land , meaning ‘exciting land’, and we loved the tobogganing, tubing, flying fox, indoor play trampoline mat and of course, making endless snowballs.
We leave tomorrow however we could easily spend many more days here as the range of activities is just huge.
An amazing introduction to snow for the kids. It’s snowing again now, just a white wonderland.
